The default operating system is Windows Server 2016 which is included in the above plan price however we also offer Windows Server 2022 Datacenter/Standard, Windows Server 2019 Datacenter/Standard, Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard/Web if required for an additional monthly fee.

Which versions of Windows Server are available?
We provide Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022 on either Web, Standard or Datacenter.
If you would like another operating system version then please let us know and we will assist. We do allow you to provide us with your own custom operating system ISO to load onto your server.

Where are our servers hosted?
We host our servers at Internet Solutions/Dimension Data in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

What software is preinstalled on the server?
We provide the server to you once ready with the bare operating system installed.

Can you preinstall Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) or Microsoft SQL Server Express?
Yes, we can set this up for you on request at no additional cost.

Do you provide Microsoft SQL Server and Terminal Services (RDP) licensing?
Yes, this will be an additional fee per month. For SQL, you can choose to license per CAL (per connection per user) or per core which then allows an open connection for your users to connect to your Microsoft SQL Server.
For Terminal Services (RDP) licensing we charge an additional R100 per month per CAL (user).

How do I connect to my server?
You can connect to your server using Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) using your IP address, username and password that we will provide to you. Your server comes with two (2) Administrator CALs for you to use.

How do I upgrade and how long does it take?
Yes, you can upgrade your server at anytime. This typically takes around 5 - 10 minutes to complete from our side during business hours.

Are SSDs available for my server?
Yes, we provide SSD space as well for an additional fee per month.

Who manages my server?
The servers are self managed however if you would like us to manage your server for you then please contact us to find out pricing.

How many IP addresses are allowed on my server?
We provide an initial public static IP address for you to use on your server however you can always add more should you require at an additional R50 per month per IP address.

Can I have a Linux operating system run on my server instead of Windows Server?
Yes, please have a look at our Linux VPS Server Hosting plans here.

How do I backup my server?
The server does not come with any preconfigured backup software however we can install this for you using Azure backups service.

Does the server have firewall protection?
Yes, we have firewalls on our hardware at Internet Solutions/Dimension Data as well as on your server using Windows Server firewall.
