All servers include Remote Desktop (RDP) access and support multiple Windows Server versions at no additional costs or hidden fees. We will also, on request, install IIS, Web Deploy, .NET and SQL Server Express for you at no additional cost. Which versions of Windows Server are available?
We provide Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 on either Web, Standard or Datacenter.
If you would like another operating system version then please let us know and we will assist. We do allow you to provide us with your own custom operating system ISO to load onto your server.

Where are our servers hosted?
We host our servers at Internet Solutions/Dimension Data in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

What software is preinstalled on the server?
We provide the server to you once ready with the bare operating system installed.

Can you preinstall Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), Web Deploy, or Microsoft SQL Server Express?
Yes, we can install and configure these up for you on request at no additional cost.

Do you provide Microsoft SQL Server Web, Standard or Enterprise and Terminal Services (RDP) licensing?
Yes, this will be an additional fee per month. For SQL, you can choose to license per core which then allows an open connection for your users to connect to your Microsoft SQL Server.
For Terminal Services (RDP) licensing we charge an additional R150 per month per CAL (user).

Which versions of .NET can I run on my server?
You can install and run any version of .NET that you would like on your server. This includes the .NET Framework, .NET Core, Blazor or even Mono.

How do I connect to my server?
You can connect to your server using Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) using your IP address, username and password that we will provide to you. Your server comes with two (2) Administrator CALs for you to use.

How do I upgrade and how long does it take?
Yes, you can upgrade your server at anytime. This typically takes around 5 - 10 minutes to complete from our side during business hours.

Are SSDs available for my server?
Yes, your server will use Solid State Drives (SSD) for maximum performance.

Who manages my server?
The servers are self managed however if you would like us to manage your server for you then please contact us to find out pricing.

How many IP addresses are allowed on my server?
We provide an initial public static IP address for you to use on your server however you can always add more should you require at an additional R50 per month per IP address.

Can I have a Linux operating system run on my server instead of Windows Server?

How do I backup my server?
The server does not come with any preconfigured backup software however we can add this for you with our backup plans.

Does the server have firewall protection?
Yes, we have firewalls on our hardware at Internet Solutions/Dimension Data as well as on your server using Windows Server firewall.

Does the server have Virtualization enabled?
Yes, we can assist with enabling virtualization on your server to create containers or any other virtualization needs.

Can I run accounting software on my server?
Yes, we support Quickbooks, Sage/Pastel, Fincon and others on our Windows Servers. You can connect via remote desktop connection (RDP) to access and utilize your accounting software on the server.
